"Raids!" a WWII Black Ops conversion
Black Ops is quite interesting
game. It has some maluses (see CZ review) but
it has a lot of bonuses. The biggest issue I have with the game is in my point
of view terrible armybuilding.
From the beginning I though
about conversions to more sci-fi or more futuristic version, be it Infinity,
Mass Effect, Pournelle's Falkenberg Legion.
At the end, I started with WW2
version, as inspiration came to me through Tiny Hordes.
Bellow you can see draft of
the armylist and some house rules.
As I realy hate to calculate
with halfpoints, and I do not like squad updates in Black Ops I have increase
the point value ten times and establish new point per model/weapon values for
some squad upgrades. Also, If I am not mistaken, the Black Ops does not works
with crew needed for operation of some heavier weaponry (like heavy mortar
operated by one guy?). So I have tried to establish the rules for Weapon Teams.
Also I am very unhappy with
faction lists in the original game so I have tried a new approach with
"Support" rule and Heavy weapons balancing with Weapon Teams.
The Armylist
The House Rules
Weapon Team (x)
This weapon can fire ONLY if
weapon team is formed from at least number of crew shown in Bracket. To form a
weapon team either you can use common base for all members or all crew members
must be in B2B contact with weapon or between themselves. In case casualty
will drop the team bellow the number shown in brackets, you can continue to
fire until end of turn, however you are loosing benefit from Weapon Special
Ability „Auto“ or „Fire for Effect“ for mortars.
Next turn you must assign
enough additional crew for the mounted weapon (according to number in
brackets). If you are unable to reinforce the gunner with additional crew
(x) you can continue to fire with reduced fire of 1 (1 shot per round). Light and Heavy
Mortars can fire once per two turn if reduced to only one crewman.
Any number of crewmen in
weapon team above Weapon Team (x) can fire their weapons at their own targets.
If they are in base contact with other crew man (or weapon) they are still
considered as weapon team for extra shots from „Auto“ or “Fire for Effect” as
mentioned above and are activated as weapon team.
Crew (x)
Shows maximum number of crew
which can be assigned to form Weapon Team. This number of crew must be assigned
to the weapon during armylist building and can’t carry additional Heavy or
Support Weapon.
Smoke (x)
This weapon can fire smokes.
Number in brackets shows number of smoke markers to be placed. You can choose
to fire HE or Smoke ammunition at activation and then you fire this ammunition
whole turn.
Support
You can have maximum of 1
support weapon per 5 man. Heavy Weapon Teams crew member are not calculated in
totals for determination of maximum support weapons.
